Stator Dimensional Gauging And Inspection

The stator assembly process, whether it is a wound version or made with hairpin technology, involves a sequence of complex operations that must be carefully controlled in order to ensure adequate process capability and the quality of the final product.

Stator dimensional gauging and inspection
DESCRIPTION

The initial steps of the sheet-metal stack assembly can be controlled with hard gauges, attribute gauges, or simple hand-held solutions.

More sophisticated applications, semi-automatic or fully automatic, are proposed to check the correct execution of the assembly operations of the insulating paper and hairpins. The use of optical technologies integrated within the same measurement station, allows to carry out dimensional checks on the correct positioning of the hairpins for subsequent welding operations, together with qualitative analyzes on the possible presence of defects in the positioning of the insulating paper or in the internal surface of the stator stack.

Shape errors generated during the assembly of the cooling jacket to the stator could affect the correct sealing of the housing or the symmetry of the air-gap between rotor and stator. MARPOSS can provide special contact gauging stations for stators able to check measurements of internal and external diameters and also to carry out dynamic measurements of the concentricity of the external diameters respect to the inner axis in order to control the correct assembly process with the cooling jacket.

Eddy Current technology for the inspection of porosities or other surface defects on the sealing surfaces of the cooling jacket, even in positions not directly accessible to visual techniques such as in the gasket seats, allows to complete the qualitative analysis of the assembled component.

The possible integration of different technologies (visual inspection, optical measurement, contact measurement, NDT Eddy Current technology) within the same gauging station, guarantees the possibility of creating complex applications capable of performing a complete quality check of the assembled stator.
