In-line high voltage testing for magnet wire
HVT
The HVT24 system is designed to perform dielectric strength (Hi-Pot) tests on magnet wire directly in the production line. It detects insulation defects in real time during manufacturing and can signal and locate the defect directly to the line PLC.
Insulation testing of magnet wire is essential to detect defects early, preventing electrical failures, short circuits, and costly downtime in production and operation.
The system can be applied to both round and rectangular magnet wire and supports different types of insulation materials, including enamel coatings such as PI and PAI as well as high-performance polymers like PEEK and PFA. This testing process is essential to ensure the quality of magnet wire used for stator and rotor windings, helping to prevent insulation failures, malfunctions, and short circuits in electric machines.
The HVT24 cabinet can manage up to 24 controllers (HVTC), allowing parallel testing across multiple production lines. Each controller can be connected to up to three insulation testers (HVTT) equipped with dedicated wire contact systems using pulleys or brushes.
The system can receive an encoder signal from the production line, enabling it to generate output signals indicating the presence of insulation defects together with their precise position along the wire.
Controllers can also interface with Marposs Aeroel dimensional gauges, allowing dimensional measurement data to be acquired and stored together with the insulation test results.
