Breakdown Voltage validation test system
BDV5
BDV Test Bench is a high-voltage test bench designed for Breakdown Voltage validation and for verifying the performance of the electrical insulation of high-voltage components. The system provides a controlled and reproducible test environment, particularly suited to research and development, material characterization, design optimization and the early detection of potential insulation weak spots.BDV Test Bench is a high-voltage test bench designed for Breakdown Voltage validation and for verifying the performance of the electrical insulation of high-voltage components. The system provides a controlled and reproducible test environment, particularly suited to research and development, material characterization, design optimization and the early detection of potential insulation weak spots.
Marposs E.D.C. has been designing high-voltage electrical testing systems for motors, windings and insulating components for over sixty years, with more than 700 systems installed worldwide.
The bench performs BDV tests in AC or DC on a wide range of components, including electric motor stators, hairpins, enamelled wires, HV connectors, wiring harnesses and immersed or encapsulated components. The component is placed in dedicated tooling and connected through HV clamps and conductive media; voltage is then applied according to a programmable ramp with automatic breakdown voltage detection.
The system supports AC test voltages up to 30 kVrms at 50/60 Hz, with an optional DC generator up to 6 kV and 20 mA. Test parameters are configurable through dedicated recipes and include ramp rate, test duration and current threshold. Breakdown voltage, leakage current and test duration are recorded during the test.
