Irina Botu-Tallis, a student of Johns Hopkins University, Bologna is the recipient of the 2018 “Mario Possati” Memorial Fellowship, now in its twenty sixth year of assisting a gifted young Eastern European person to complete their education to international standards. The Fellowship, promoted and financed by Confindustria Emilia Area Centro and Marposs, is named after Mario Possati, Founder of Marposs and is for talented young Eastern Europeans specialising at Bologna's SAIS (School of Advanced International Studies), a division of the American Johns Hopkins University.

Irina Botu-Tallis is from Tirgu-Jiu, in Romania. She has a degree and master's in Business economics from Bucharest University of Economic Studies, issued in 2011 and 2013 respectively, and obtained an Erasmus scholarship in 2011 which allowed her to study for a term at the Kodolanyi Janos University in Budapest, Hungary. Having obtained her master's degree, she moved to Washington, D.C., where she began her career in international affairs. In the last two years, she has worked as an International Monetary Fund (IMF) Staff Assistant and has been involved in coordinating spring and annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. Irina has also had the chance to work as an intern at the Organization of American States and Inter-American Development Bank in Washington, D.C. Passionate about renewable energy, Irina decided to expand her knowledge of the subject at Johns Hopkins SAIS, where she will study for an M.A. in International Relations, focusing on Energy, Resources and Environment. Her goal for the future is to work in international organisations such as the World Bank and to offer member states technical and analytical support for implementing and adopting renewable energy sources.

The award ceremony, held on 21 February at the Marposs headquarters, featured Stefano Possati, Marposs Chairman, alongside his brothers Edoardo and Alberto, respectively Vice-Chairman and a company board member, the President of Confindustria Emilia Area Centro, Alberto Vacchi, with the Director General, Tiziana Ferrari, and the Director of Johns Hopkins University SAIS Europe, ENI Professor of International Economics Michael G.
