PROMOTING INTERNATIONAL CULTURE THROUGH THE “MARIO POSSATI” FELLOWSHIP

CONFINDUSTRIA EMILIA, MARPOSS AND S.A.I.S. JOHNS HOPKINS AWARD MOMOLU VARMAH

PROMOTING INTERNATIONAL CULTURE THROUGH THE “MARIO POSSATI” FELLOWSHIP

The 2023 “Mario Possati” Memorial Fellowship goes to Momolu Varmah.
This award, named after the Founder of Marposs, is in its thirty-first year of assisting a gifted young talent to complete the educational path to international standards.
The fellowship, promoted and financed by Confindustria Emilia Area Centro and Marposs, is for talented young students specialising at Bologna's SAIS (School of Advanced International Studies), a division of the American Johns Hopkins University.
Momolu Varmah is originally from Bopolu, Liberia. A firm believer of fundamental human rights, he graduated in 2022 from Southwest Petroleum University, China, with a Master of Business Administration (MBA), after earning a degree in Demography from the University of Liberia in 2018. Varmah has three years of experience working for one of the largest mobile companies in Africa, Lonestar Cell MTN. At Johns Hopkins University, SAIS Europe hopes to explore how Africa’s relationship with the rest of the world can improve by focusing on key issues of South Saharan Africa’s political development such as low domestic purchasing power, the shortage of skilled labour, limited access to capital, poor governance, political instability and human rights.

Award a student committed to human rights and international relations is a concrete proof of Marposs' commitment to promote inclusion and enhance community development
The ceremony,  which took place the 14th March in the Bologna headquarters of Confindustria Emilia Area Centro, featured Stefano Possati, president of Marposs, together with Edoardo, vice president of the company, in addition to Momolu Varmah; the president of Confindustria Emilia Area Centro, Valter Caiumi, together with the general manager, Tiziana Ferrari; the deputy director of Johns Hopkins University SAIS Europe, Bart Drakulich, together with the director of development, Gabriella Chiappini.
