Statement of Awareness
The European Regulation n. 1907/2006 on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals (REACH) entered into force on 1 June 2007.
The REACH Regulation aims at "ensuring high level of protection for human health and environment, including the promotion of alternative methods for assessment of hazards of substances, as well as the free circulation of substances on the internal market while enhancing competitiveness and innovation" (Article 1.1 REACH)
The REACH Regulation sets new rules for the trade and management of chemical substances and pushes for improved communication between customers and suppliers for a safer use of the substances they buy and sell. Under certain provisions, the European manufacturers and importers are requested to register the substances they manufacture or import. Failure to register implies that the substance may no longer be manufactured nor placed on the EU market, according to the principle "no data - no market".
Marposs companies may not fall under the specific conditions prescribed for the compulsory registration of substances. Nevertheless, Marposs companies are fully aware of the potential disruptions that incomplete o late registrations could inflict on the supply chain. All the actions necessary to ensure the continued availability of the substances, chemical compounds and articles used in the manufacturing process have therefore been planned and are in execution.

ECHA’s SCIP database
SCIP stands for "Substances of Concern In articles as such or in complex objects (Products)". It is a database on Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) in products, developed by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) on the basis of the Waste Framework Directive. In addition to the notification and reporting obligations under the REACH regulation for substances on the candidate list, producers and importers of articles must provide the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) with information available to them as of January 5, 2021 in accordance with Article 33(1) of the REACH regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (https://echa.europa.eu/en/scip-database).
Marposs companies are currently working on the application of this requirement with the aim of fulfilling these notifications and reporting obligations to the European Chemicals Agency.
