MERLIN NEW FEATURES

To further expand the success achieved in its first year of sales, Marposs is investing to enhance Merlin's functionality and capabilities.

NEW EASY BOX DEVICES
Two new Easy Box devices can now be connected to Merlin.
U4S Easy Box provides 4 serial ports that Merlin can use to acquire information from an external gage and/or to send measurement values to external devices for closed loop control or to a printer for cyclic printouts.
U4TP-E Easy Box allows to interface up to four type-E thermocouples and use them as standard probes in Merlin measuring formulas.

CUSTOMIZABLE SERIAL INPUT
Merlin can acquire measures from an external gage connected to its built-in serial port or to the ports available via USB using U4S Easy Box. Using its easily programmable protocol interface, the software is able to manage almost any external gage capable of ASCII serial protocol. The "Test function" can substantially reduce the customization work and its complexity giving to the programmer the possibility to analyze the communication between Merlin and the external device.

MEASUREMENTS SERIAL OUTPUT
Using the built-in serial port or a port belonging to the U4S Easy Box, the software is able to send at each end of measuring cycle all the acquired values using a simple ASCII protocol. These values can be easily used for closed loop control, to print out, or communicate to other measuring systems.

ADDITIONAL LANGUAGES
The software is now able to manage three more languages: Korean, Polish and Czech.
These languages are added to the eight already available: English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, Swedish and Japanese.

TRACING PARAMETERS
The possibility to add run-time additional information to the acquired measuring value, is a function that is ever more important to trace production data and link generic information to the gauged part.
Merlin software has a set of predefined fields that can be enabled to prompt a request for part serial number, operator ID, machine number, free text, .... the input can be optional or mandatory depending on the parameter.
Acquired information can be organized in qs-STAT® and text (.CSV) formats.
