Import/Export Associate

Location: Auburn Hills, MI - United States

Experience:

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the movement of product, equipment, and material in/out of country in accordance with organizational policies and procedures and to comply with relevant local and country regulations and process
  • Prepare and process import/export documentation according to regulations
  • Provide export compliance, guidance and support to all business areas
  • Track and trace shipments, researching and resolving any issues regarding billing or shipping discrepancies.
  • Maintaining tariff classification explanation sheet
  • Data Entry
  • Assist with physical inventory control
  • Prepare various reports
  • Request quotes
  • Verify orders for correctness

What we are looking for

  • Bachelors degree in related major and 3+ years experience, or associates degree in related major and +5 years experience.
  • Strong understanding of HTS codes and experience in HTS classifications
  • Exhibit excellent organizational skills.
  • Good oral and written communications skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Self-learning and staying up-to-date on Tariff Codes and Export Control
  • Experience with U.S. Import/Export Regulations, including regulations & customs ACE Systems
  • Experience with freight forwarder companies (DHL, Radiant, UPS, FedEx, DSV etc.)
  • Strong planning, time management, and organizational skills
  • Detailed understanding and working knowledge of the federal regulatory requirements in the areas of U.S. export compliance and documentation, including, but not limited to Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
  • MS Office experience
  • Ability to work under high pressure
  • Ability to explain and persuade others of the classification results in a professional manner
