Technical Buyer
Activities
The resource, working within the Purchasing Department, will be responsible for managing and procuring custom-designed mechanical components, with a particular focus on Turning and Milling. They will also act as a point of connection between the Technical Office, Production, and external suppliers. The role is responsible for the entire purchasing process, from reading technical specifications to economic negotiation, ensuring cost optimization and adherence to delivery timelines.
Responsibilities
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings: Analysis of 2D/3D mechanical drawings (technical tables) to understand specifications, tolerances, materials, and required treatments.
- Quotation and cost management: Requesting offers, comparing and evaluating supplier quotations, and negotiating prices for custom components.
- Cost analysis (Cost Estimation): Evaluating component costs based on material analysis, machining times, and production processes (mechanical machining).
- Supplier research and scouting: Identifying, qualifying, and selecting new national and international suppliers, with a focus on precision mechanical machining.
- Order management and follow-up: Entering orders into ERP system (SAP), following up with suppliers, monitoring order confirmations, and ensuring delivery deadlines are met.
- Technical collaboration: Supporting the technical department in feasibility evaluation and product cost optimization.
Requirements
- Education: Technical diploma (mechanical/industrial expert) or degree in Mechanical/Management Engineering.
- Experience: At least 2–5 years in a similar role within purchasing departments in companies in the metalworking sector.
- Technical Drawing: Excellent ability to read mechanical drawings (UNI standards, views, sections, tolerances).
- Software: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Microsoft Dynamics NAV).
- Languages: Good knowledge of English (spoken and written) for negotiations with foreign suppliers.
- Negotiation: Strong aptitude for negotiation and supplier management.
- Analysis and Precision: Analytical skills and attention to both technical and administrative accuracy.
- Problem Solving: Ability to resolve supply chain issues, with an analytical and calm approach to complex situations, focusing on solutions rather than problems. Ability to organize activities, define priorities, and meet deadlines.
