THRUVAR QUICK SET UP
IN-PROCESS MEASURING HEAD FOR APPLICATIONS ON INTERNAL GRINDERS
The Thruvar™ Quick-Setup gage, which is mounted inside the grinder's workhead spindle, measures workpiece inner diameters as the part is ground. Signals from the Thruvar gauge are sent to an amplifier such as the Marposs P7 unit, which provides outputs to the grinder control based on real-time measurement of the workpiece size. The outputs are used to control the wheel slide infeed for precise size and finish consistency.
The gauge incorporates push-button automatic setup adjustment that significantly reduces downtime for changeover without the need of special tools. Using the automatic setup feature, it is possible to reset the Thruvar gauge in a few seconds without operator intervention within a size range of up to 25 mm (1"). The new quick setup gauge is available in two sizes:
- model 50 with a 50 mm (1.96") body diameter for measuring inner diameters up to 150 mm (6")
- model 70 with a 70 mm (2.75") body diameter for measuring ID's up to 230 mm (9").
This measuring head is to be connected to P7 and P7ME electronic units.
